Built under Napoléon III by the architect Samuel Wolf, the museum is amazing for its size (each floor is 1750 m2), the Lagueloup cellar is located on one of the oldest wine-producing sites of the Gironde. Early Christian remains have been found in the park.

Excavations were undertaken between 15 July 1973 to 15 August 1975 by Mr Destanques. A 226 metre section of Gallo-Roman road was uncovered, in a more or less north-westerly direction.

The historical site of Roquetaillade consists of two twelfth and fourteenth century fortified castles. Lived in and furnished by the same family for seven hundred years, you can admire the medieval keeps and Renaissance fireplaces, and most of all the extraordinary interior decorations by Viollet-le-Duc. You can also visit the farming museum, a 150 year old Bazadais farmhouse, and take a stroll through the park with its ancient trees. Listed as a historical monument 1840.

Located near Bordeaux, this former residence of the Kings of Navarre was at one time owned by King Henri IV of France and Queen Margot. Well worth a visit : the royal apartments with period furniture, the famous medieval underground caves where prestigious Bordeaux wine is left to age, the troglodyte caves under the chateau, and various exhibitions (sarcophagi, ancient coins, weapons, parchments, etc...). There are also beautiful grounds with trees all along the famous Ciron gorges.

The castle was built in the centre of a wooded park of about 150 hectares. Inspired by landscaped gardens and parks, and discoveries made on his travels, Montesquieu changed the areas surrounding his château. Above the first door allowing access to the château, one can read: "O rus quano te aspicia" - "O countryside when will I see you again", such was Montesquieu's desire to return to his beloved estate. The vines, having been removed in 2000, were replanted in this fine Graves soil.

Authentic medieval castle from 1305.As soon as he was elected as a Pope (in 1305), Bertrand de Goth had this fortified castle built where he was born in Villandraut. His new residence combined elaborate systems of defense with refined elements of living conditions. Cultural events take place in the heart of this outstanding building. Classified historical monument.

"Mongenan is entirely devoted to the second part of the eighteenth century. Historical documents, manuscripts, portraits, souvenirs from the French Company of the Indies, objects, precious court costumes, painted fabrics (toiles de Jouy, de Nantes and de Beautiran), plant illustrations by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, earthenware and porcelain transport the visitor to the Court of Louis XVI. A period Masonic Temple with an unusual collection of ritual objects is also accessible.

Les Jardins « pour l’ornement », « d’utilité » et « pour l’agrément » constituent une parure exceptionnelle souvent reproduite dans divers magazines. Composé sur le rythme baroque, le Jardin d’Utilité comporte plus de mille essences et variétés allant des plantes tinctoriales aux plantes médicinales ou magiques en passant par les légumes et fruits anciens. Une roseraie et une exceptionnelle collection d’iris rendent, au printemps, sa visite inoubliable. Les jardins « pour l’ornement » et « pour l’agrément », avec son théâtre de verdure, ont conservé leurs ponctuations lapidaires baroques et s’ornent de rares ferronneries de Blaise Charlut.

The Port of Grima is the old port of Cadaujac. It’s pleasant to walk here because of the 18th and 19th-century residences and the view of the Garonne is very beautiful. You can see the Island of Lalande from here.

The facade dates from 1736 and is in the pure classical style. The octagonal bell tower was built in 1852, designed by the Bordeaux architect Pierre-Paul Courau. The stained-glass windows were made by Joseph Villet, a master glazer of Bordeaux, between 1861 and 1868.

The Statue of Saint Radegonde dates from the nineteenth century. Saint Radegonde, wife of Clotaire I, was consecrated deaconess and founded the abbey of Sainte-Croix near Poitiers. The statue shows the saint in queen's clothes.

Built at the initiative of Mr De Carayon-Latour in 1869, covered with a slate roof and supplied by a spring that flows rather weakly, but always full nevertheless.

This church is in the flamboyant Gothic style with a three-storey bell tower entrance. Inside there are three bays with groin vaults and galleries with balusters at the end of the nave; a beautiful statue of Saint Michel, eighteenth century processional cross and altarpiece.

This very large wash house has a tiled roof supported by beams that are in excellent condition. It is supplied by a spring and built below ground level (five or six steps). The washerwomen used to stand up.

Architect: Claude Joyneau (1702 and 1708). Works began in 1702. The new church had a compact design that consists of three naves with three bays. It is even slightly archaistic. The previous facade was dominated by a square bell tower in its centre.

This is made up of two empty sections. However, it is operational and is filled twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays), and a few people still use it. They wash their linen standing up. The water comes from a well that was sunk especially for the wash house.

The daughter of the Prince of Langon refused that her fiancé, the duke of Bordeaux, come to search her by taking the ordinary route. The desperate young man who was not able to build a new road in one night called upon the devil who created this route.

At the 11th century yet existed a church. Its chevet and transept had the same magnitude as the actual church. The first modification dates from 12th century, with a building of freestone. The church had just one nave. At the 16th century, it was enlarged by the construction of a aisle with 3 abutments. In 1765, a new bell-tower was built next to the Romanesque portal. The church was repaired at the 19th century. The apse has splendid chapiters.

A neoclassical charterhouse built in 1772 was raised by one level in the central part at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Listed in the Historical Monuments supplementary inventory since 2002. The residence has two courtyards: the main courtyard has an octagonal seventeenth century pigeon tower.
